Fort Osage, Van Horn, Park Hill get wins

By The Examiner staff Seven players scored touchdowns as Fort Osage remained undefeated and opened Suburban Middle Seven play with a 73-7 rout of Oak Park Friday at Staley High School.
Ezra Vaoifi had touchdowns run of 22, 28 and 49 to lead the Indians, who were in command 47-7 at halftime.
Bailey Williamson scored on a 50-yard pass from Skylar Thompson and ran 34 yards, Cody Jones had touchdowns runs of 12 and 2 yards, Thompson ran 29 yards and passed 35 yards to Willie Penamon, Adam Dickmeyer ran eight yards and Herman Tapusoa 14 yards to complete the Fort Osage scoring.
The Indians rushed for 338 yards and Thompson was 6 of 9 for 130 yards and two TDs. Vaoifi finished with 144 yards on just nine carries.
VAN HORN 49, BUTLER 7: As it turned out, Van Horn coach Jeff Tolbert’s worries were in vain.
J.J. Rivers rushed 20 times for 198 yards and four touchdowns as visiting Van Horn clinched at least a tie for the Crossroads Conference title Friday night. Tony Winningham passed for two touchdowns.
“I knew how well-coached they are and that we had never beaten them,” Tolbert said after the Falcons improved to 4-0 and 2-0. “I was nervous about the game all week.”
Tolbert said Rivers, a junior, has been playing hard and doing a good job.
It was Van Horn’s first victory over Butler in four tries.
PARK HILL 49, TRUMAN 14: The host Trojans totaled 386 yards in defeating Truman in the Suburban Middle Six game.
The Patriots, to no avail, had their best offensive showing of the season by rushing for 251 yards. Dean Clemons rushed 12 times for 96 yards, including a 40-yard scoring dash and completed 4 of 7 passes for 31 yards.
