The first Greater Kansas City Football Coaches Association Clinic of 2012 was a huge success with more than 250 coaches in attendance.
The GKCFCA first clinic of the year traditionally features high school staffs from around the Metro speaking to their colleagues on topics that have made them successful. Wednesday night at Central States Beverage Company coaches were packed in tight as they listened to the staffs from Center, Platte County, Spring Hill and Lawrence.
The past few years the GKCFCA has seen marked growth and the strong showing at this year’s first event is a sign that is continuing.
GKCFCA Co-Executive Director Brian Johnston said the board has worked very hard with its members to make this one of the strongest coaching associations in the country.
“The GKCFCA has never been stronger,” Johnston said. “We’ve never had a clinic this well attended. PrepsKC has really been the association's media arm and I think it has helped to make is stronger.”
The clinic is the first of four held by the GKCFCA. The next three occur on Feb. 20, March 13 and April 17. The speakers for the other three clinics have not been announced yet but these clinics traditionally feature college football coaches.
