St. Mary's closes out season with win
By The Examiner staff Senior Drew Huttinger ran and passed St. Mary’s to a 38-17 victory over Summit Christian Academy Friday night at Truman High School. He had touchdown passes of 14 yards to his brother Alex, 21 yards to Antonio Johnson and 16 yards to Ozzy Litchfield, and ran two yards for another score. He also ran for a two-point conversion and passed to Andy Salva for another conversion. Gabe Kimbrough returned an intercepted pass 19 yards for another score as the Trojans concluded a 3-6 regular season. “It was a total team effort,” St. Mary’s coach Tim Cogan said. “We played great in the second half. The players encouraged one another.” The Trojans will likely meet Lone Jack at Truman next Thursday in the opening round of the Class 1 playoffs. ODESSA 42, GRAIN VALLEY 26: Host Odessa struck for two late touchdowns to seal the Missouri River Valley Conference West victory Friday night.
