Who is the new king of the Missouri River Valley Conference east has yet to be answered, but on this night Oak Grove made a statement that they have arrived. The better question may be…How do you build a house? The answer is by laying the foundation first. Coach Pat Richard and his staff have done that and now have added a marquee win to the resume.

Oak Grove came out and did what they do best. They played smash mouth football and controlled the line of scrimmage with a heavy dose of RB Aaron Graham who had a 36 yard TD for the Oak Grove Panthers as well as another long run in a key third quarter where Harrisonville only managed three offensive plays. In the decisive third quarter the Panthers forced two Wildcat turnovers and scored the game winning touchdown on a 12-yard Evan Fugitt run.

With the win, Oak Grove snapped Harrisonville’s 48 game Conference winning streak that dated back to 2002 when they were members of the West Central Conference. It was the first loss in MRVC play for the Wildcats. Oak Grove now sits alone atop the MRVC record at 7-0 and 3-0 in Conference. The Wildcats fell to 5-2 and 2-1 in Conference.
