BS South gets past Lee's Summit

After little went right in last week’s shutout loss to Rockhurst, Blue Springs South regained some mojo before next week’s crosstown showdown and stayed unbeaten in the Suburban Big Six.

The Jaguars rolled up 484 yards of offense in Friday’s 44-14 thumping of host Lee’s Summit, raising their record to 4-2 (2-0 Big Six), and now can turn their sights toward their home date with Blue Springs.

South coach Greg Oder said he wasn’t worried about his team looking past Lee’s Summit, and a defensive four-and-out and a 10-play 87-yard scoring drive to start things against the Tigers probably cured any nagging concerns.

A 34-yard burst by running back Khorey Kilgore was the highlight of that drive, setting up Dalton Brewer’s 6-yard touchdown keeper on the next play.

“It was very important, for our confidence and this being another conference game,” Oder said of the first drive. “Nobody said anything about next week, because this was very important.”
