Country Mart gives back to local communities
By PrepsKC staff PrepsKC partner Country Mart is partnering with 610 Sports Radio, Johnsonville Sausage, Resers Fine Foods and Kretschmar’s Premium Meats to sponsor the 2nd Annual 2012 Country Mart Conference.
The Conference will kick off the week of August 18th as local students hit the football fields to showcase their school’s talent and spirit.
The Country Mart Conference is a virtual conference made up of 20 high schools in the 18 Country Mart cities and towns in Missouri and Kansas. 610 Sports Radio will track the actual wins and losses of each football team on their website, www.610sports.com. At the end of the season in November, the high school with the best won:loss record receives a $500 donation to their athletic department.
This year, Country Mart has extended the Conference to include Spirit Awards. At the end of the football season in November, not only will there be a Conference champ, but also three other groups receiving recognition.
In store, fans are asked to buy Country Mart Conference T-shirts and spirit graphics to support their local football team, cheerleading squad and/or band with all proceeds going back to the schools. The team from each category that raises the most money by November will win a $500 prize to go to the corresponding department.
In addition, Country Mart will be awarding “Most Spirited” to the school or team that has the best photo uploaded to the MyCountryMart facebook page.
“We’re really excited about the second year of the Country Mart Conference,” said Rex Worboys, group sales manager for the Country Mart group. “The expansion of the conference to include the bands, cheer squads and general public gives everyone a reason to participate. Our communities are an important aspect of our business, and by supporting the schools, we are really supporting our communities as a whole.”
