The season is right around the corner and the preview of conference schedules continues now on PrepsKC.com

We now take a look at the Suburban Small Seven which sees some changes this year. North Kansas City moves down from the Middle Six, while Staley and Oak Park move up from the Small Six. Those three schools replace Park Hill South which moved up to the Middle Six and Raytown South and Winnetonka that moved down to the Small Six.

This season the new nine-game regular season with no district game requirements has provided with some interesting matchups every week of the season. Let’s take a look at some of the most interesting games each week of the 2012 season.

Week 1
Kearney at North Kansas City. This will be the first game as a Class 5 school for Kearney and they will test their mettle with an improved North Kansas City squad.

Week 2
Fort Osage at Blue Springs South. The Indians draw the defending Class 6 state champions in a big early season test.

Week 3
Belton at Oak Park. The Pirates and Northmen are both rebuilding programs that should learn a lot about themselves this week.

Week 4
Blue Springs South at Staley. The defending Class 5 champ hosts the defending Class 6 champ. You don’t need to say anything else about this game.

Week 5
Oak Park at Winnetonka. This is one of those great North Kansas City School district rivalries that has gone to the Griffins the last few years.

Week 6
Staley at Fort Osage. This is a rematch of one of the best defensive games of last season as the Falcons won 7-6 in a Class 5 quarterfinal game.

Week 7
Winnetonka at North Kansas City. These teams share a stadium so more than just a win is on the line.

Week 8
William Chrisman at Truman. These two teams play of the Wagon Wheel and pride every time they meet.

Week 9
Fort Osage at Belton. The final week could see a lot of teams jostling for playoff position. Both teams should be careful to look ahead to the postseason.
