East Buchanan, West Platte earn rematch

East Buchanan 48, Albany 8


GOWER, Mo. — Cory Bower scored five touchdowns to lead the Bulldogs to a victory in Class 1 regionals.


Bower scored on runs of 44, 45 and 10 yards in the first quarter, giving East Buchanan a 20-0 lead. In the second quarter, he added two more TD runs.


Bower ran for 221 yards on 13 carries for East Buchanan (10-1).


Ben Humphrey scored on a 7-yard run for Albany (2-9), which made its first playoff appearence since 1996.



West Platte 20, King City 6


KING CITY, Mo. — West Platte’s Dylan Guthrie ran for 194 yards and a touchdown in the Blue Jays’ Class 1 regional win.


Luke Wetzel passed for a pair of TDs for West Platte (8-3). He threw a 14-yard score to Adam Roe in the first quarter and then a 20-yard pass to Hunter Farris in the fowww.newspressnow.com/sports/29670128/detail.htmlurth quarter. Wetzel was 10-for-16 for 121 yards.


King City’s Trey Thompson’s 1-yard run in the second quarter made the game 12-6 at halftime. Thompson ran for 76 yards for the Wildkats (3-7).


Lawson 39, Trenton 0


LAWSON, Mo. — Lawson had little trouble in its Class 1 regional opener and now has a showdown with defending state championship Hamilton.
