Immaculatta grabs first win of the season

Oskaloosa, Kan. — Immaculata earned its first football win of the season Friday night at Oskaloosa. Despite a slow start, the Raiders led 14-12 at halftime and were able to extend that out to 50-20 by the game’s end. Head coach Sean Sachen said the team came out strong in the second half.
“We came into the game flat,” Sachen said. “The first half we actually played bad, we had a lot of missed assignments and missed tackles. We weren’t focused to start the game at all and we were lucky to come out of the first half with a lead like we did. We talked about that at half, ... that if we were winning but not playing well we’re going to let them know. So I challenged them to clean up what we were doing execution-wise and for the most part we did.”
The Raiders came out of the locker room and scored on the first series of the third quarter, but then turned around to let Oskaloosa score two plays later. That would be the last scoring for the Bears, however, as Immaculata took over and cruised to the 30-point win.
“For them to rally after that was good to see,” Sachen said. “We tightened up on the defensive side and shut them down from there. The right kids stepped up at the right time.”
