Grain Valley football regained its winning ways in easy fashion.

Jeremy Maynard completed 8 of 16 passes for 170 yards and one touchdown and rushed for two as the host Eagles rolled past winless Odessa 63-14 in a Missouri River Valley Conference West game Friday night.

“We wanted to get a running game going once we got the lead,” Grain Valley coach Jimmy Tucker said. “We got some guys some playing time in the second half.”

The Eagles (4-3, 3-1) coasted after streaking to a 56-6 halftime lead. Dylan Farrell pulled in a 24-yard pass from Maynard, Ryan Nace ran 18 yards and Tucker Pauley 6 yards and Alex Velasquez kicked the first three of nine extra points as Grain Valley led 21-0 after one quarter.

Zac Hoover had scoring runs of 36 and 7 yards, Maynard 3 and 10 yards and Nace 3 yards as the Eagles exploded for 35 second-quarter points.

Farrell bolted 51 yards for the final Grain Valley touchdown in the third quarter.
