The people on the frontlines helping athletes every day are the certified athletic trainers.

The Sports Medicine and Performance Center at the University of Kansas Health System have partnered up with 13 high schools in the Shawnee Mission, Blue Valley, DeSoto and Lansing  and five middle schools in the Shawnee Mission district to provide that crucial care.

Here is a quick video talking about how a trainer at Blue Valley North helped the Mustangs standout defensive end Miles Emory stay healthy as North won its first-ever state championship this season.
