Well it is here. Practice for all fall sports opened today and that means we are less than three weeks away from actual games.

Missouri gets going this week while Kansas joins the party in two weeks. If July 31 says summer not fall to you then you aren’t alone. This is the earliest practice has started and when games kick off on Aug. 18 it will also be the earliest.

I’ve said for the last few seasons this is too early and it seems most of the Missouri schools agree and starting next year the fall season will be moved back a week. That means state championship games will be played the week after Thanksgiving. I think it is a good move. Let’s just hope basketball can survive.

While that change is a year away there are a lot of changes in store for PrepsKC. We are always trying to get better and bring you the best coverage of high school football anywhere in the country.

The things that aren’t changing are the dynamic live scoreboard, blanket coverage, great insight from the reporters in the field and photos you’ve come to love.

What you will see more of this year is video highlights of the best plays from games all over the Metro. You will also have more ability to check out games live either through radio or video.

Also, coming soon our radio show Football Friday Night will be on iTunes along with all our podcasts making it easier for you to follow along.

Another new addition is a Friday night live recap show on YouTube. There will more details of this in the coming weeks but it will be your chance to catch highlights, scores and interact with me and other fans talking about the night’s action.

We’ve got some remarkable things coming and here is an example of some video we shot this summer.

It’s going to be an exciting year and we can’t wait to get it started.
