Here are a few of the characteristics of a top quality assistant coach.

  • A genuine loyalty to the program and the head coach but willing to offer criticisms in the proper manner.

  • A “we” person willing to spend the quality time necessary to bring success to the program.

  • A great teacher with the ability to communicate with a wide variety of individual players and parents.

  • Treat players with respect. Be willing to find that player who had a bad practice or game and send him home with positive reinforcement.

  • An individual who has as one of his priorities to become the best football coach that he can become.

The assistant coaches are the backbone of a successful program.
