Before the season on PrepsKC.com, I wrote about all of the games on the Missouri side to watch for as a primer to the upcoming season. Now, we have one game and a jamboree under our belts. Maybe not a good gauge to tell how each team will finish out the season.

So enough of all the preseason chatter, now is a good time to look at some of the upcoming games that are high on my list as must-see.

Rockhurst at Blue Springs, Sept. 13: Is there a better rivalry anywhere in the state of Missouri? Need I say more?

Blue Springs at Lee's Summit West, Sept. 20: There is no rest for the weary as the Wildcats will have to turn right around after Rockhurst to take on perennial power Lee's Summit West on their turf. Last season, the Titans, outlasted Blue Springs 35-28. Know that the Wildcats will be looking to avenge the only blemish to their 2012 state championship season.

Liberty North at Winnetonka, Oct. 4: Winnetonka got off to a rough start in Week one against that other Liberty team falling 35-0, but this one is a conference team, and has the makings of a solid defensive struggle. It will also feature some outstanding running back in Richard Richardson for North, and Aaron Mends and Marquise Doherty for Winnetonka.

Harrisonville at Oak Grove, Oct. 11: Every year, Harrisonville has proven itself as one of the top programs in the area. It has a storied history with tons of success. Oak Grove is coming off of an undefeated regular season in 2012, falling to Center in the playoffs. Class 4 is loaded again this year, and when these two teams meet later in the season, it's quite possible neither will have a loss.

Savannah at Maryville, Oct. 18: Defending Class 3 champion Maryville hosts Savannah for a classic Midland Empire Conference game in Week 8. For those who don't get outside the city limits to see their high school football, this will be a prime opportunity to witness a great game.

Now, as the rest of the season unfolds, there will be many surprises and new storylines just like every other season. The beauty of it is how we never know the ending. So grab a hot dog or some popcorn and let's just sit back and enjoy the show each week.
