Mill Valley used an explosive, 21-point, second quarter to pull away from, Spring Hill, as they cruised to a 56-7 playoff victory. Mill Valley was led quarterback, Daniel Blaine, and running back Tristen Baker. Both of these two Jaguars had a hand in all of the first half scores.

Blaine scored in the first quarter on a 9-yard keeper. Kenten Laughman, converted all of his eight point after touchdowns.

In the second quarter, Tristan Baker scored on a 25-yard run, and on a 3-yard run. Then Blaine, and Baker combined, when Blaine rolled out, to his left, and then threw back to his right, and Baker followed his blockers for a 72-yard touchdown play.

Spring Hill was playing without their star running back, Colton McKanna, due to injury. McKanna, who had more than 1800 yards rushing and 29 TD’s, was sorely missed. The Broncos did get on the board, with a trick play. Noah Anderton was lined up as a wingback. Anderton went in motion, and quarterback Tyson Beashore, raised his hands to sideline, as if he was looking for a play call. Anderton, ducked under center, and scored on a 1 sneak. Ryan Jackson kicked the point after and the teams went to the locker rooms, with Mill Valley up 28-7.

The second half was all Jaguars. Andy Watt, scored on a 32 yard “jet-sweep.” After the Jaguars defense forced a punt, the offense only needed one play, to score again. Davion Harris beat his man, off the line of scrimmage, Blaine hit Harris in stride and went 58 yards down the sideline, for the score.

That was it for Blaine, who took the rest of the game off, but the Jags, continued to roll. Connor Bohon, who relieved Blaine, scored 2 more rushing touchdowns, the first was 21 yards, and the final score was from 5 yards out.

After the game, Mill Valley, head coach Joel Applebee, was asked about his defense.

“They have gotten better, and better, throughout the year,” Applebee said. “That’s the thing I’m most proud of, you see the improvement on a weekly basis. We had a lot of turnover, we lost a lot of seniors last year, and just seeing the improvement from week to week is just, outstanding.”

With the loss, Spring Hill’s season is over, and they finish with a record of 7-3. Mill Valley improves their record to 8-2, and they will be home next week against Topeka Seaman.
