The playoffs have begun and Eudora, is moving on, with a hard fought, 28-14 victory over Piper.

Eudora started fast scoring inside of the first two minutes of the game. Matt Magette took a handoff and ran around the right end, and was untouched as he ran 54 yards, to take the lead. Kaden Kerr converted the kick, and the Cardinals had the lead.

Piper came right back. Jack Bakarich, called his own number on an option read, and scored from 4 yards out. Kaleb Kirgan, tied the game with his kick.

However, Eudora needed just one play from scrimmage to break the tie. Braylen Hoobler, ran right up the middle, and went 55 yards for a touchdown.

The Cardinals stretched their lead to 14 points when, Kole Manley, scored on 4th and 2, from the 4-yard line. After the game when asked about that play, he said, “We had a roll out pass called, I felt one of their backside defensive guys on my tail. I did not want to set up to throw it, because I thought he might get to me. I saw the opening and just took it, and ran the guy over, to get in the end zone.”

Late in the third quarter, the Pirates cut the lead in half, when Bakarich, threw deep down the sidelines, and found, Tanner McDaniel, who made the catch and outran the defense, for a 50-yard touchdown. After the kick, the score was 21-14.

The Cardinals put the game away when Manley, followed his lineman, into the end zone from 4 yards out, for the final score of the game.

The Pirates last hope was dashed when, when the Cardinals intercepted a pass, with 1:22 left in the game.

With the loss, the Pirates final record of the season is, 4-5. The Cardinals record is now 5-4, and they will play, the undefeated, Atchison Phoenix, next week.
