Friday afternoon Grandview high school forfeited its first four games of the season. The Bulldogs record in those games was 3-1 and the overall record heading into Friday night’s game was 5-1.

After the forfeits Grandview’s record fell to 2-4 and after Friday’s 27-21 win over Ruskin it now stands at 3-4.

The district released this statement on Saturday:

“After conducting a thorough investigation, it has come to our attention that one of our players participated in the first four football games while ineligible. As soon as we discovered this issue, we took immediate action by contacting the Missouri State High School Activities Association (MSHSAA) and self-reporting the incident.

On Friday, we received notification from MSHSAA that we would have to vacate the wins associated with the games in which the ineligible student participated.

Rest assured, we have already taken steps to update and enhance our processes and procedures to ensure that gaps like this do not occur in the future. We are committed to upholding the highest standards of integrity and compliance in all aspects of our athletic program.

Despite this setback, we are immensely proud of the dedication and hard work our student-athletes have demonstrated throughout the year. We believe in their potential, and we look forward to the remainder of the season with optimism and enthusiasm. We appreciate your understanding and continued support of our student-athletes in their pursuit of excellence.

If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out to the school administration or the athletic department. Your feedback and input are always valued.”

PrepsKC has confirmed with MSHSAA that Grandview self reported one ineligible player and the games were forfeited.

Due to the forfeits William Chrisman, Raytown South and Winnetonka were awarded 13-0 wins.

PrepsKC will have further coverage if developments in this story warrant it.
