The Maryville Spoofhounds thwarted the first-quarter struggles in a 62-2 blowout over St. Pius X on Friday at the Hound Pound.

A night that was started off with an 80-yard kickoff return from Maryville’s senior Deon Metezier saw the best of an offensive showcase.

A touchdown via the arm of the Warriors' sophomore quarterback Jack Mosh to Robbie Sharp put St. Pius on the board. A failed PAT left Maryville with a 7-6 lead after both team’s respective first possession.

From that point on, the Spoofhounds (3-1) were the only ones to add to the scoreboard. Metezier added another touchdown, as well as Senior Tate Oglesby, putting on yet another offensive clinic to give Maryville a 41-6 lead heading into the locker room. Junior quarterback Ben Walker continued his dominance from the past few weeks into the matchup.

“We just focused on our execution,” Walker said. “We just do it to the best of our abilities. So I mean, we just have to execute and focus and the rest of it will come.”

The Spoofhounds picked up right where they left off to start the second half. Senior Aiden Cullin added another touchdown to advance the spread to 48-6. A few more late-game touchdowns were added on by Maryville’s backups to increase the lead even further.
