Take a look back at Week 9

Welcome to Five From Friday our weekly feature that highlights some of the best quotes, notes, stats and performances of the games Friday night.

Quote of the night
“We got Jack Richards, James Dykes, Brett Tickle and then Seth Goins, Walker Brown and Kimbal Sweeney. Our line works hard in the weight room. When they control the line of scrimmage and get a big push, guys like Bennett Hutchison are going to make things happen.” DeSoto Coach Brian King after the strong play of the line helped the Wildcats to a 48-21 win over Basehor-Linwood.

Stat line of the night
Nate Reynolds, running back, Harrisonville – The junior tailback had a big night in the Wildcats 42-14 win over Odessa. Reynolds finished with 319 yards and five touchdowns on 25 carries as Harrisonville closed out its regular season.

Highlight of the night
Oak Park is known as a ground and pound football team. The Northmen want to run it at you and impose their will. While that is their identity don’t think they can’t hit big plays in the passing game. Friday Night in the 42-26 win over Fort Osage Oak Park did just that with this play from quarterback Aiden Hinkle found Evan Braxton with a big 69-yard scoring play right before half. – Kevin Wike was on the call for Spectrum Sports.

Team of the night
Louisburg – The Wildcats went to Spring Hill and earned a 35-21 win which was important in multiple ways. It locked up a perfect 8-0 regular season, won the Frontier League title and locked down the No. 2 seed in the Kansas Class 4A East bracket.

Big Winner
Fans of high scoring games. Each week we see plenty of games with big numbers put up on the scoreboard. Games are routinely in the 50s and it seems like there are one or two that get into the 60s and there are always the occasional score in the 70s. This week we got into the 80s and almost to the 90s as Oak Grove earned an 87-56 win over Warrensburg. That’s a lot of points.
