Take a look back at Week 6

Welcome to Five From Friday our weekly feature that highlights some of the best quotes, notes, stats and performances of the games Friday night.

Quote of the night
“We were getting our tails kicked. I’m sitting there half worried, thinking this could get real embarrassing. But you know, we talk everyday about fighting, fighting and fighting and character and toughness.” – Rockhurst Coach Kelly Donohoe after his team rallied from 28-0 and then 38-25 with 5 minutes left only to defeat St. Thomas Aquinas 45-44 in overtime.

Stat line of the night
Dylan Dunn, quarterback, Blue Valley Southwest – The senior had another big night as the Timberwolves moved to 4-1 with a 55-21 win over Blue Valley North. Dunn finished went 24 of 31 for 327 yards and six touchdowns in another big night.

Call of the night
Liberty North lost to Lee’s Summit North in week No. 1 and since that point have been taking out that loss on teams in the Metro. Friday night it was Blue Springs turn and the Eagles put the game away early. While it looked easy on the scoreboard North needed an exciting play to push the lead to 29-0 in the first half. Vision Sports Rob Evans and Tim Crone were on the call.

Tillman to Smith with the circus act.

Team of the night
North Platte – The Panthers edged Mid Buchanan 30-26 to move to 5-1 on the season. North Platte entered last season with a multi-season losing streak and are now one of the top teams in Class 1 with a chance to compete for a state title.

Big Winner
Wyandotte and Harmon – Both teams entered Friday’s game without a win. Wyandotte got the 40-14 victory but Harmon led early in the first quarter. That lead was Harmon’s in almost five years and a good sign for both programs that are trying to build and become successful.
