When they jumped out to a 10-point lead, it looked like the Fighting Eagles of Olathe North were going to roll to a big win over Lawrence Lions. Those would be the last points North would score, as Lawrence moved to 7-0 with a 35-10 win.

Lawrence went three and out on their first two possessions. A strong headwind set Olathe North up with short fields. In fact, the Eagles started their first three drives in Lion territory. Around Bruce took North’s second play from scrimmage 34 yards for a touchdown. Lawrence’s defense started their stand on the next Olathe possession. The Eagles had the ball first and goal from the five and had to settle for a field goal.

A Jackson Dooley interception gave Olathe North a short field again. And again the Lawrence defense was equal to the challenge. This time forcing a punt.

Now it was time for the Lion offense and Devin Neal to go to work.

On fourth down, Dooley found Neal streaking down the left sideline for a touchdown.

The next possession was more of the same of Dooley and the Lion offense. This time junior quarterback hooked up with Chris McGee for a 41-yard touchdown giving Lawrence a 14-10 lead.

Neal would score is first of three second half touchdowns three and half minutes into the third quarter. This time was a 42-yard run.

Almost two minutes into the fourth quarter Dooley lofted a 15-yard pass to the corner of the end zone. Neal leaped over a defender and brought down his second receiving touchdown of the day.

To cap things off Neal burst through the line with five minutes left int he game, and 52 yards later he was scoring his fourth touchdown and giving the Lions they seventh victory of the season.
