This fall will mark the 10th season PrepsKC has covered football in the Kansas City Metro. In that time we have quickly become the leader in high school football coverage in the area.

We began with a good group of writers and photographers who were able to take their love of covering football and use it to provide the most complete coverage the city has ever seen.

There were also great sponsors like The McCarthy Auto Group and RE/MAX who were two of the first to come aboard and are still with us today.

We also had fantastic Media partners like Sports Radio 810 WHB and The Examiner. Our final media partner to join us in that first year was Fox4KC. Their impact was immediate. When Al Wallace announced the partnership on a Thursday during his sportscast our traffic instantly spiked.

PrepsKC’s visibility continued to grow that first year and Al Wallace, Jason Lamb and Fox4KC were a big part of it. During that first year we were able to bring the first-ever high school score ticker to the Metro and that continues to this day.

Our partnerships have changed, and we were away from Fox4KC but returned before the 2017 season. Wallace and Lamb again led the charge to partner with us and helped expand high school football coverage yet again.

Before the end of 2018 there were some changes at Fox4KC with both Wallace and Lamb taking buyouts and moving on. It happens in media all the time and has happened at every radio station, television station and newspaper in the Metro. In fact during our time we have see several newspapers close shop all together.

The media landscape changes daily it seems that trend isn’t going away. It’s tough to see talented people and friends leave the business.

PrepsKC and more importantly I would like to thank Wallace and Lamb for their great work and for taking a chance on a new media outlet. PrepsKC would not be where it is today without either man.
