It’s an exciting day as I get to announce I’m returning to PrepsKC after four long years away from the company. Growing up in Kansas City I would hear rumblings about how special high school football is in the metro area but never really understood how it could be any different from other cities. After stints in El Dorado, KS and Denver, Colorado I now know why the metro is a notch above the rest.

After spending five years as a sports reporter in the metro area I accepted a position as sports editor for the Butler County Times Gazette in El Dorado. I was able to branch out with my writing a bit covering a multitude of sports.

After spending two years in Butler County, I was fortunate enough to be hired as the sports editor for three local papers in Denver, Colorado and learn from in my opinion one of the best in the business and longtime editor Michael Hicks. I feel that I have fixed some flaws in my writing and redeveloped a passion to tell local stories.

My fiancé and I are excited to return to the Lawrence community, one that not only boasts the best rivalry in the metro area (I’m biased) but also has the best university in the state of Kansas (also biased). Along with PrepsKC, I will be working with Kansas Athletics as a communications assistant.

I can’t thank Dion Clisso enough for welcoming me back to this company and I am excited to hit the ground running this fall.
