Last week we released the rosters for this year’s BeYounion.com Kansas vs. Missouri All-Star Game. Once again it is filled with fantastic players from both sides of the state line.

When any roster from any all-star game is released there is always some chatter as to who is there and who isn’t there.

The reality is in a metropolitan area like Kansas City narrowing it down to just 90 players is a daunting task. Add in that most NCAA Division I recruits don’t play in the game and kids have other commitments such as baseball or travel in the summer and the shape and makeup of each team can bring lots off discussion.

This year I haven’t seen that much chatter on social media but more of a congratulatory tone. I think that says a lot. The coaches and players are giving of their time to represent their side of the state line and all involved should be thanked for their time and effort.

What makes this all-star game great is what makes football in Kansas City great. There is a passion for the sport that shows every Friday night. Throw in the level of participation in the Greater Kansas City Football Coaches Association and you have a sport that is strong and getting better.

The all-star game is going to be another magnificent event and it is fantastic to see a community like Leavenworth host it. The Pioneers have a strong following and the school district will be able to showcase its outstanding facilities and passion during the game.

As the game gets closer we will have in depth previews of the game including some great video features and stories. If you are truly a high school football fan this is one game, you shouldn’t miss. It’s got some of the best players in the Metro and even though it is an offseason all-star game the level of play is very high.

The countdown has begun the all-star game is almost here.
